My writing
I am a travel writer. I've authored childrens' travel books Capitals and the forthcoming Ancient Cities for Weldon Owen. My work also appears in travel guidebooks, magazines, blogs and on tourism sites including DK Eyewitness Travel Guides and RoughGuides.com. My personal travel project is Smallfolktravel.com, a website devoted to the joys of family travel. Check it out for my most recent escapades, or browse In Print for clips.
Right now, I'm in Norway. Sometimes I live in Copenhagen. More often than that, I'm on the move with my nomadic family. I spend a great deal of time sleuthing around these regions with my camera and notebook. As a mum on the move, I'm particularly interested in creative family travel. You won't find us at Disney World.

What I can do for you
I offer well-researched, professional content for the travel & tourism industry.
- As a perpetual kid posing as a parent, I love collecting curious knowledge from my travels and sharing it with children.
- As a published worldwide wanderer, I’m always ready to research and write creative and intelligent features that capture a true sense of place.
- As an experienced fact-checker, I am well-equipped to assist you with guidebook updating tasks and writing supplementary content.
- As a travel blogger with proven SEO writing skills, I excel at Destination Guides, Top 5 and Top 10 lists.
- As a copywriter, I’ve helped several businesses clarify messaging and strengthen their brand. Send me an email to find out more about my copywriting rates.
More about me
- I've lived all over the world. Like all veteran travelers, I want to keep seeing new places and trying new things. Now I have more people in my life: my husband, Morten Jerven, a fellow traveler, and our three children. I explore the world with my family.
- I am a food history nerd. I track trends globally. From new Scandinavian cuisine to international street food trends and the birth of the dumpling, I'm in the middle of the action. With napkins.
- I have a thing for profiling designers including Jason Wu, Erdem, Rachel Zoe, Brian Atwood, Nicola Formichetti, Sebastian Peigne, Lapo Elkann, Tom Mora and more.
- I speak Norglish - a combination of Norwegian and English.
- I like my family. Licorice. Sunday morning. Foraging. Wine that bubbles. Unplanned roadtrips. Train travel. Hiking. Boots. Hiking boots.
- I don’t like holes in my socks. Library fines. Cyclists on the sidewalk. Mayonnaise. Waiting for travel visas.
